Godswill Ekpolo has joined Nigeria U23 squad preparing for the 2016 Olympics Games billed for Brazil.
Ekpolo who joined the Spanish based outfit when he was nine years and captained the team’s U18 side in the UEFA Youth League few seasons ago, arrived Thursday morning (4.38am) via British Airways.
The 21-year-old who can play from any position in the defence is among the foreign based coach Samson Siasia invited for the Olympics preparations having being persuaded to represent the country by chief scout Tofe Towobola.
He is set to train in the country for the first time with the Dream Team VI having left for Spain with his family over 15 years ago.
“I am here for business and ready to fight for a shirt in the Nigeria’s Dream Team VI team.”
“I am aware of the quality and talent abound in this team since I played for the team in the friendly match against Brazil U-23 national team. But I am battle ready to fight for a shirt in the team.”
Ekpolo featured in Nigeria U23’s 1-0 defeat of Brazil U23 in an international friendly placed in March.
