The Bauchi state House of Assembly has approved the request of the state governor, Muhammad Abubakar to allow him appoint 10 special advisers to assist him in running the administration in the state.
Presenting the request before the House, the Majority Leader, Hon Ibrahim Bello from Katagum Constituency said the state governor had forwarded a request to appoint 10 special advisers and calling on the members to grant such request for smooth operation of the state.
Immediately after presenting the request before the House, they unanimously approved the request of the governor, granting him permission to appoint such advisers.
Meanwhile the lawmakers had summoned the Accountant General of the state as well as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, before the House for interrogation on why the state could not pay the workers’ salaries during the previous administration despite allocation from the federation account.
The two senior civil servants will be the first people to be invited by the lawmakers since their inauguration this Monday, to explain the reasons behind the inability of the government to pay workers salaries for two months.
