Bauchi State Government in its efforts to ensure bumper harvest in this year’s farming season has so far distributed over 75,000 bags of assorted fertiliser.
This was disclosed by the Chairman Distribution committee, Brigadier General Ladan Yusuf (Rtd) while speaking to journalists in Bauchi, where he said during the distribution exercise, total of 78, 750 was distributed to farmers.
He explained that immediately after this year’s launching by the State Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar in Misau local government, his committee swung into action by strategists how to ensure the commodity reach common farmers.
He said his committee resolved to use polling units used for election aimed at reaching grassroots farmers and within six days they were able to go round all the 20 local government councils.
Brigadier General Ladan stated that this year’s fertiliser will be sold at the rate of N2,750 for a bag of NPK and N3000 for Urea and assured that the commodity will definitely reach all farmers especially the small ones.
He however warned farmers to desist from selling or diverting the products, saying anyone caught will be prosecuted.
