THE ASSETS Recovery Committee setup by the Bauchi State Governor, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, has recovered 12 vehicles of the 22 vehicles allegedly carted away by the wives of former Governor Isa Yuguda.
The committee declared that 5,000 air conditioners donated to the state government under the Yuguda administration were nowhere to be found.
In an interaction with journalists in Buachi, the committee’s chairman, Air Commodore Ahmed Tijjani Baba (rtd), disclosed that the former First Lady, Hajia Aisha Yuguda, who took five vehicles, had returned three while Hajia Hauwa Abiodun Yuguda who allegedly took 10 vehicles had returned eight.
The committee had visited the Government House, Bauchi where the vehicles are kept.
Baba stated that of the seven vehicles requested from Hajia Nafisa Isa Yuguda, only one vehicle was returned to the committee while only 20 of the 31 generating plants purchased by the immediate past administration for distribution to local government councils were distributed.
He said that the former personal physician to Yuguda, Alhaji Sanusi Isa and head of the Due Process Office, has returned the generating sets to the committee.
Baba disclosed that the former Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hajia Talatu Barwa, was accused of donating two of the generating sets declared missing to some mosques in the state capital and went away with two others.
According to him, Hajia Bawa has returned the old generating sets instead of the new ones to the committee which has given her three days to bring back the new ones.
On the 5,000 air conditioners donated to the state government by Chinese government, Baba said the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment told the committee that he knew nothing about them.
He pledged that the committee would adopt measures within the ambit of the law to recover all properties allegedly looted from the state by any government official or politician
