Bauchi State Government has paid all outstanding salaries being owed its civil servants as well as the January salary of political office holders.
This was disclosed over the weekend by the Head of the State Civil Service, Mr. Abdon Dalla Gin while briefing newsmen where he said the state Governor, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar has approved the immediate payment of both April salary arrears and that of September 2015.
He said the governor has approved the same for local government workers as well as unpaid salaries of political office holders for January this year.
He stated that the present administration met a backlog of salaries for April and May 2015 and it has also stabilized salary payments as workers are being paid as at when due.
“I also make bold to say that the Bauchi State Government is the first in the whole federation to settle all outstanding salaries to its workers and even paying September 2015 salary in advance,” he said.
Mr Abdon Gin therefore admonished civilian servants to be committed and diligent in the discharge of their official duties, adding that monthly ‘other charges’ allocation has been restored.
He warned that government will not condone any misconduct in the official duties that could manifest in laxity, spreading of falsehood, negligence of duty, leaking of government confidential information or outright sabotage of government activities.
“Let me remind our civil servants that we will not hesitate to apply heavy punishment when the regulations are violated by any worker as we need to support this administration to actualise its noble goals for the good people of the state,” he added.
Also speaking, TUC Chairman, Comrade Muhammad Usman commended the state government for the gesture and urged civil servants to reciprocate the kind gesture.
