New Commissioner of Police, Don Awunah, have assumed duty yesterday in Bayela state, as he promised to ensure people oriented policing in the state.
Awunah took over from the former Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa, Asuquo Amba who has been recalled to the Force Headquarters.
Speaking to newsmen at the police headquarters in Yenagoa, he promised to ensure security of the state, through proper intelligence gathering.
He promised to reorganize anti terrorism unit in the state to guarantee safety of Nigerians living in the state.
He said, “The command under me will operate on people oriented policing, problem solving policing and employ all necessary apparatus to ensure safety of the state.”
Before his deployment to the state, Awunah was the Commissioner in charge of anti terrorism unit at the force headquarters.
He has previously served as commissioner of police in Akwa Ibom State and the police public relations officer at the force headquarters in Abuja at different times.
