Former President, Goodluck Jonathan will today lead stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, across Nigeria to the second term declaration of Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Apart from ex-President Jonathan, others include Chairman PDP Governors Forum, Chief Olusegun Mimiko as well as his counterparts from PDP states.
Owing to various alignments and realignments within the political landscape in Bayelsa in recent times, especially since the loss of power at the federal level, the atmosphere has been tensed. This is largely due to divided interests of the various major stakeholders in the state.
It will be recalled that Governor Dickson was at at appoint in cold war with the former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan over political interest, particularly the control of the state machinery of the then ruling party.
However, it is believed in political circles in the state that, given the outcome of the march 28, Presidential elections, the former President has clearly shown to the people of Bayelsa and Nigerians that he is solidly behind his adopted son with his endorsement of Governor Dickson.
Today’s endorsement is being planned in grand style to send a strong signal to the APC that the Peoples Democratic Party is firmly rooted in the state.
