THE FEDERATED Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Bayelsa State council has condemned the recent murder of a Yenagoa-based journalist, Famous Giobaro. Late Giobaro, a desk editor with state owned radio station, Radio Bayelsa, who hailed from Otuedo community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, was killed in the wee hours of Easter Sunday by yet to be identified gunmen. In a statement in Yenagoa jointly signed by the Chairman of the chapel, Comrade Kola Oredipe, and the Secretary, Chris Eze, the death was callous and most wicked. The death of Famous Giobaro, who was a jolly good fellows is a great loss to the journalism profession. The statement calls on the Bayelsa State Government and the State Command of the Police Command, to immediately cause an investigation into the gruesome murder to unravel those behind the killing. This must not go as one of the unresolved killings of journalists across the country. The chapel sends its condolences to the immediate family of late Giobaro and management and staff of Radio Bayelsa Glory FM, over the painful loss. The statement prays God to grant the departed eternal rest.   Meanwhile,the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Bayelsa Chapter, has expressed sadness over the
untimely demise of Famous Giobaro..who died at the early hours of Sunday, April 16,2017..as a result of alleged armed robbery attack at his residence,INEC road,yenagoa. A statement signed by the  chairperson Maria Olodi-Osumah and Secretary Grace ita-Amagbe said the news came as a shock to the Association adding that death took Famous at his prime when the pen profession is yet to fully savor his contributions. “Famous Giobaro who was  a staff of the Bayelsa State
Broadcasting Corporation as we all know is hardworking,dedicated to duty and a dependable alley,the vacuum created by his death will be difficult to fill.” We pray God to grant the family and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, the courage and strength to overcome the loss.. We also  call on the security agencies to ensure thorough investigation with a view to bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book…
