A group of Bayelsa elders under the aegis of Bayelsa Development Forum yesterday said, Bayelsa State remains a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP state and stronghold.
The group said its assertion was based on the outcome of the general elections in the state where the PDP clearly showed it had no opposition in the state. This was contained in a statement by its Chairman, Chief Thompson Okorotie and Publicity Secretary, Dr. George Fente.
The group also hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security forces for their high level of service delivery in the conduct of state House of Assembly elections in the state.
BDF said, “We are very happy about the violence-free elections conducted under free, fair and credible atmosphere throughout Bayelsa State.
“We commend the leadership quality of Governor Seriake Dickson and his deputy, John Jonah, who was the Chairman of the Central Campaign Committee.
“The governor and his deputy nurtured the new democratic culture emerging in Bayelsa into the most peaceful and successful elections since the inception of the creation of the state.
“It is now clear that Bayelsa State remains a PDP state and stronghold, as the people have spoken again during the recent general elections.”
