Asmir Begovic admits Chelsea must find their feet quickly in the Premier League or risk falling behind in the title race.
The former Stoke No 1, playing in place of the suspended Thibaut Courtois, made several crucial saves against Manchester City but was unable to stop the Blues crumbling to a 3-0 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday.
It was another disappointing result for Jose Mourinho’s side after an opening weekend draw with Swansea at Stamford Bridge and Begovic, an £8million summer signing, says Chelsea need to put the poor start behind them.
‘We will try and correct our performances and improve those levels. Then hopefully pick up the results and see how things are going.
‘You never want to be behind but there is still time to recoup those points and be where we want and need to be come the business end of the season.’
‘We still have a strong squad. We just need things to click for us. We are getting out sharpness, training has been competitive and strong.
‘A couple of things are not quite going our way right now but this is no time to start feeling sorry for ourselves, we have to pick ourselves up quickly, improve and pick up points.’
Begovic made two brilliant saves to deny Sergio Aguero in the opening exchanges but the Bosnian was finally beaten by last season’s Golden Boot winner in a first half that the home side dominated at the Etihad.
