Transport and Energy in
Benue State, Engr. Emmanuel
Manger has decried the rot
at the state owned transport
outfit known as Benue Links.
The commissioner, who
spoke yesterday in Makurdi
during the ongoing ministerial
press briefing organised by the
Nigeria Union of Journalists,
NUJ, noted that standard at the
transport outfit had dropped
He added that the whole
place had been politicised as it
lacked ethical codes.
“There is rot at Benue Links;
the damage there is major.
There is indiscipline amongst
the drivers. Most of them pack
the vehicles at beer parlours
and this is not right. If I am the
general manager of the outfit
I will sack such a driver. The
place need a major overhaul
and that would happen in
three weeks time,” Manger
On the issue of road
construction, Manger
lamented the manner Jack
Gyado handles contracts given
to his company, noting that
his contracts were politically
According to him, “Contract
given to Tilley Gyado is not
favourable. There is no reason
for him to be given contract. If
I were him I would not have
collected such contract. The
amount of money involved is
enormous and I see no reason
why he should not have done
a good job.”
The commissioner also
complained about the quality
of job done by Hajaig who
handled major rural road
contracts in the state, disclosing
that the states was making
reports to the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission,
EFCC, over Hajaig.
