Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has commended teachers in the state for their great sacrifice of imparting knowledge in the people.
Ortom, who was represented by his Deputy, Benson Abounu, at this year’s World Teachers Day celebrated at the IBB Square, Markudi, noted that as a listening government, his administration would carefully look at the issues raised by the Chairman of the National Union of Teachers, Benue Chapter, Comrade Godwin Anya, with the aim of addressing them.
He emphasized that the state government is keenly interested in reforming the education sector to empower the people of the state through welfare and training of teachers.
The governor reaffirmed the patriotism exhibited by teachers in the state and noted that the theme of this year’s celebration “Empowering Teachers, Building Sustainable Societies” is apt because teachers empower individuals and societies.
