Benue State government
may reconsider its decision
to appoint first class chiefs
in the State following an
application by its counsel
Edward Ashiekaa, Esq. to
seek out of court settlement.
When the case came up
yesterday at the State High
Court in Makurdi, Ashiekaa
told the court that he had
approached his clients,
the outgoing governor,
Dr Gabriel Suswam, Tiv
traditional council and 6
others who he said have
advised him to seek an out
of court settlement.
Ashiekaa, while moving
the application apologised
to the court, saying he
was absent when the
court issued an injunction
restraining his client to stay
action on the appointment
of first class chiefs in the
“I want to move a motion
asking the court to give us
sometime to seek out of
court settlement”, Ashiekaa
Counsel to the applicant,
Hon. Benjamin Adanyi,
Prof. Tony Ijohor, SAN
did not oppose the oral
motion by Ashiekaa even
as the presiding judge,
Justice Margaret Kpojime
adjourned the case to May
27, 2015 for further hearing.
