Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment in Benue State, Nicholas Wende, has disclosed the requisition of N10billion from the Federal Government to address ecological problems in the state.
Wende, who spoke to Nigerian Pilot in Makurdi at the weekend, said the state was hopeful of accessing the fund in the light of the assurances it gave to utilise it judiciously.
He said his office is trying to look into areas where previous administrations applied for funds accessed as ecological and intervention funds.
The commissioner also said he would probe into the veracity or otherwise of the N600million left behind by the past government.
He said the government has prepared IDP camps for those who might likely be displaced by flood at Daudu and slightly after Agan Toll Gate, Makurdi, adding that some primary schools have also already been designated for that purpose.
