Executive Secretary, National Advocacy Crusade Centre, NACC, Olayinka Alao has urged President-elect, General Buhari not to appoint persons with questionable character in the in-coming administration.
Alao, in statement made available to Nigerian Pilot in Abuja yesterday, noted that
corruption starts with appointment of unscrupulous elements into government.
The Executive Secretary decried the high level of corruption in the country, and warned that if drastic measures were not taken to curb systemic corruption which starts with the appointment of unqualified persons into sensitive positions, the country may be plunged into recession.
The group premised its concerns particularly on a Federal Government Agency’s Managing Director, who fraudulently rose to the top without due process and currently lobbying to be retained.
Olayinka, however, called on the President-elect, Gen Buhari to look into the appointment with a view to reverting it.
He further urged the incoming government to immediately take decisive action against corrupt elements within the corridors of power, who have continually drained the economy of the country through dubious activities.
