IPOB condemns killing of Christians in North, attacks by Fulani herdsmen, amalgamation of 1914
Biafra agitators

Former Minister of Power and Steel in the Second Republic, Wantaregh Paul Iorpuu Unongo has stated that the agitation for Republic of Biafra by some Igbo youths is targeted at frustrating the war against corruption by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Unongo, who spoke with newsmen in Makurdi, Benue State capital at the weekend, stated that the change mantra is what beneficiaries of the old system were resisting as manifested in the protest by unsuspecting youths.
According to him, the sponsors of the Biafra agitators wanted Buhari administration to continue with the manner their people dominated the administration of the Goodluck Jonathan, alleging that such procedure affected the previous administration to its knees as revealed in the media where several billions of naira were looted.
He wondered the manner of marginalization the Igbo complain about in the present administration, when all the five south eastern states representing the Ibo race are represented in Buhari’s cabinet in addition to other critical appointments in public parastatals, boards and as permanent secretaries, even though they did not vote for Buhari in the last general election.
Unongo lamented the silence of the elders in Igbos who witnessed the devastating effects of the civil war but refused to call to order the youths in their domain, stating that such silence is a threat to the unity of Nigeria.
He warned that the northern part of the country would remain resolute to resist any threat to the unity of Nigeria.
The octogenarian who made references to the circumstances surrounding the first and second world wars, warned that any section of the country that drags the nation to another civil war may not live to relay the experience.
He said, “As an elder statesman, I question and advice advocates for a renewed Biafra to re-examine the reasons for which they are advocating for Biafra which took so many lives and put the reasons forward for examination. Let them desist from making inflammatory, provocative and reckless vituperations that appear look reasonable.
