The leader of the Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, yesterday stated categorically that a free state of Biafra would assist the United States of America, USA and its allies in the global war against terrorism and other vices that portend danger to peaceful co-existence around the world.
Uwazuruike who disclosed this in Owerri, Imo state capital during their monthly general meeting, said that MASSOB members who are currently in the struggle for the Independence of Biafra are looking up to Washington and other peace-loving nations for eventual actualisation of the much desired sovereign state of Biafra.
He therefore prayed God to grant America the strength, courage and wisdom in its efforts to make the free world a better place to live.
However, MASSOB has debunked claims by the Abia State government that its members were being employed to foment trouble in the state, following a favourable judgment the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP obtained at the just concluded governorship and national assembly elections petitions tribunal.
It was gathered that the state government had in a state radio broadcast, accused MASSOB of conspiring with the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, to create unnecessary sentiment in the state, as a result of the tribunal judgments delivered in favour of PDP.
But in a press statement issued to journalists yesterday in Onitsha, Anambra State and signed by its Deputy National Director for Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, MASSOB urged the State Government to arrest and prosecute any person or persons involved in political affairs of the state who claims to be a MASSOB member.
The statement emphasised that MASSOB is not affiliated to any political party and wondered why Abia State Government should be dragging its name into political matters apparently to give security agencies flimsy reasons to arrest its members, even as the organisation is not interested in the political affairs of Nigeria, neither does it believe in one Nigeria.
