In preparation for the 2015 Christian Pilgrimage exercise, the Bauchi state Pilgrims welfare Board has confirmed the allocation of 500 seats to the state for this year’s pilgrimage exercise.
This was disclosed yesterday by the executive secretary of the Board in the state, Mr. Ishaya Maleka while speaking to newsmen in his office where he said the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, Abuja, has already allocated 500 seats to Bauchi State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board for the 2015 pilgrimage.
He explained that 190 seats of the figure have been sold to the intending pilgrims in the state while the remaining 310 seats is awaiting the interested pilgrims, saying the 500 seats given to the state this year was against the 417 seats allocated to the state during the previous exercise.
Maleka said that the seats were allocated on first come, first serve basis to the beneficiaries and assured that the board would adopt the same method in allocating the remaining 310 seats to interested Christians in the state.
“We are selling ordinary seat at $392,000 US dollars; minimum seat at $465,000 US dollars and maximum seat at $520,000. It is an 11 days activity and pilgrims that purchase any category of the seats will be comfortable while in Israel in terms of accommodation and feedings for the whole period.
Mr. Maleka stated that they have already screened those that were able to purchase the forms and their list will be sent to Abuja for proper arrangement, saying that the intending pilgrims were screened on their health and suitability to avoid instances where they will abscond like in 2014 when one of the pilgrims reportedly absconded.
He called on Christians in the state who are interested in performing the 2015 pilgrimage to obtain the forms in good time to enable the board perfect preparations for the trip in earnest.
