The Defence headquarters, DHQ, has boasted that the military troops on counter-terrorism operations in the North-East have weakened Boko Haram terrorists such that they can no longer take hold of any town.
The military high command stressed that any information that the terrorists are holding sway in any part of the region is a media propaganda aimed at discrediting the troops.
Acting Director of Defence Information, DDI, Colonel Rabe Abubakar, stated this in Abuja yesterday during a media parley with defence correspondents.
Abubakar said the military is making serious efforts to ensure that the terrorists are completely eliminated and their camps wiped out. “They are now in disarray, having no central command. Places that were taken by Boko Haram have been retaken and some have abandoned their weapons,” the DDI revealed.
He urged the media to exhibit patriotism in their reportage. “Joining the gun with the pen, we can win the war against terror. All the service chiefs are still in Maiduguri to ensure that we defeat the terrorists.’’
Speaking on the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, the military spokesman stated that since the special forces of 8,700 was established, the contributing countries have to comply.
