Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima has been declared winner of the governorship election in the state.
Announcing the election results at the state INEC headquarters in Maiduguri, the state capital, the returning officer of the state selection, Professor Yagana Karta said Gov Shettima of APC scored 690,183 to beat Gambo Lawan of the PDP with 34771 out of the total 704954 votes cast.
Commenting on the results, the APC agent, Senator Kaka Mallam Tale said it was an expression of the people’s love and desire to give a second mandate to the governor to continue his good work for his people.
Reacting to his victory shortly at the Government House in Maiduguri, Shettima said he would never be power drunk to assume the position of God as he is aware that any leader who played God would never last or would be disgraced out of the throne within a short time.
While expressing gratitude to the people for giving him their mandates for the second term, the governor also assured that he would never betray the trust reposed in him.
