… says ex-party chair, others misappropriate N15m
Controversial chairman of the Kebbi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed Bagudo, has petitioned the National Caretaker Committee and Board of Trustees, BoT, Chairman, over alleged misappropriation of N15 million meant for the state delegates for the botched national conventions in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
The petition, which was signed by Alhaji Bagudo, was addressed to Senator Ahmed Makarfi, members of his Caretaker committee, Board of Trustees Chairman, Sen. Walid Jibrin and Chairman of National Convention Planning Committee, Governor Nyesom Wike.
The petition titled “Complaints against inappropriate activities of Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed and Alhaji Ibrahim K. Aliyu,” accused the duo of allegedly collected the sum of N7 million and N8 million respectively and converted same for their personal use.
The state Chairman of the party, however, requested the National Caretaker Committee to prevail on the duo to refund the money immediately to those it was meant for.
In the petition, Bagudo said: “During the first PDP National Convention at Port Harcourt, Alhaji Ibrahim K. Aliyu illegally collected the money meant for Kebbi state delegates to the National Convention and did not release a dime to any of the delegates. This act is dubious and inimical to the growth of our great party.
“Another round of such illegal collection of money was repeated in the recent National Convention when Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed collected the money meant for Kebbi delegates to the August 17 planned PDP National Convention. He (Dr. Bello) collected all the money meant for Kebbi state delegates and left them stranded in Port Harcourt.
“The PDP National Caretaker Committee should also note that during the 1st planned National Convention the sum of N8 million was released for Kebbi state delegates and Alhaji Ibrahim K. Aliyu collected the whole amount. Also during the 2nd planned National Convention, Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed collected the sum of N7 million on behalf of the delegates, which he also did not give to them.”
Reacting through his spokesman, Emeka Nwapa, Mohammed said that as a statesman, who is working for the return of peace in the party, the money was given to the Chairman of Makarfi’s faction of Kebbi PDP, who handled the money.
He said that the purported Chairman, Bagudo, who signed the petition, was from Sheriff’s faction, adding that “no petition came from Makarfi’s faction.
He said: “The purported Chairman if from Sheriff’s faction. Money was given by Makarfi for the delegates from Kebbi state. The money was given to the Chairman of Makarfi’s faction, who handles it. Sheriff’s faction did not attend the convention, if Makarfi brought money for me, you don’t expect it to go to Sheriff’s faction.”
Mohammed, however disclosed that Sheriff and Makarfi respect him and both hold him in high esteem, adding, “I am one of those working for peace in the party. I am working for the return of peace in PDP.”
