Sèrgent-at-Arms yesterday sealed off the office of the suspended former chairman of appropriation committee, Hon Jibrin Abdulmumin.
It will be recalled that the House of Representatives on Wednesday suspended Jibrin for 180 legislative days following several allegations he raised against the Speaker, Hon Yakubu Dogara and other principal officers.
The decision of the House followed the recommendation of the Ethics and Privilege Committee which submited its report on the floor of the House.
The committee also recommended that Jibrin would tender a formal written apology to the House after his suspension.
It further recommended that Jibrin be barred from positions of responsibility in the House until the end of the 8th Assembly.
At about 2:30pm, some sergent-at-arms were seen sealing off Jibrin’s office (Rm 1.05) at the first floor of the new building.
Before finally sealing off the office, the officials were busy taking inventory of what they found in the office.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that the office will remain sealed until the end of the 180 legislative days.
Within this period, Jibrin is expected to stay off the National Assembly premises.
It was also gathered that the sergent-at-arms had been giving marching orders to enforce the directive to the later.
