Hajiya Halima Baba, a Woman activist with Women Educational Empowerment Network, Sokoto, on Saturday called for the prosecution of any member of the House of Representatives indicted in the 2016 budget padding.

Baba told the our reporter in Sokoto that those connected to the matter should be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.

She said that sanity would be restored at the National Assembly, if thorough investigation and prosecution of indicted members were carried out.

“Mr President should take decisive measures to prevent budget padding to enable Nigerians feel the impact of democracy,” she said.

According to her, time has come for the Federal Government to introduce stringent security measure that would prevent any member from tampering with future budget presented to the legislative for consideration.

“If anybody is doing that, the person should be checked and stopped,’’ Baba said. ( NAN)
