President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Mr. Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi.
While no reason was given for the decision, a terse statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said the sack was with immediate effect.
The statement said the sacked DG was expected to handover the management of the agency to the most senior officer with all government property in his custody.
“He is to hand over the management of NIMASA and all government property in his possession to the most senior officer in the agency who will remain in charge until a new Director-General is appointed,” the statement read in part.
The sacked NIMASA boss was reappointed for a second term in office in October 2014 by former president Goodluck Jonathan.
