President-Elect Muhammadu Buhari has commended the media for their roles in the 2015 general elections.
Speaking at the 2015 Biennial Convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, in Lagos on Saturday, Buhari said practitioners in the media industry deserved commendation for facilitating a peaceful and credible poll.
Represented by the Vice-President elect, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the president-elect noted that the meeting of the NGE was very important because of the role editors’ play in nation-building.
President of the NGE, Femi Adesina, said the Guild has been able to raise N200m for the construction of its National Secretariat in Abuja.
A former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh, also at the convention, described editors, who may have compromised in the course of discharging his or her duties, as a disgrace to journalism.
