NOBEL laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka was at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday, to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed doors in what appeared to be his first visit to the present in his office.
He was accompanied by former managing director of Daily Times, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi.
Soyinka did not give insight into the agenda of the meeting but only said “I am not here for you.”
But after the meeting, he stated that he visited Buhari to discuss “national and international matters, general matters, that’s all.”
He promised that details would be revealed in a press conference he plans for next week.
It would be recalled that Soyinka last year called on Buhari to convene a national economic conference.
Yesterday was the first time Soyinka would visit the President since the latter assumed office May 29, last year.
