Ekiti State Labour Party, LP Elders Forum has congratulated Major General Muhammadu Buhari on his victory, noting that his emergence as President-electcan be liken to a bloodless revolution predicted by the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
The party also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat to the President-elect, saying the duo had made history as patriots, who fought gallantly for the unity and advancement of the country’s constitutional democracy.
In a statement by the Chairman of the party’s Elders’ Forum, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi in Ado Ekiti yesterday, the leaders urged Buhari to pilot what he described the ‘New Dawn’, which his victory symbolized, with civility and the fear of God, for Nigeria to stand shoulder high in the comity of nations.
“Buhari’s emergence could be likened to the historical prophesy of Chief Obafemi Awolowo about Nigeria’s New Dawn. That is, the emergence of a bloodless revolution.
“The result confirmed the resolve of all Nigerians to continue to live together despite their religious and tribal differences. The electorate in Nigeria showed they have come of age.
“We pray that God will continue to guide, guard and protect him. We urge Nigerians to stand by him to be able to deliver on his electioneering promises.
We congratulate all Nigerians for a peaceful election. We congratulate members of Ekiti Labour Party and most especially our respected leader, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele , who God had guided right in not leading Ekiti State chapter of the party astray in this last presidential election.”
