A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele, has said that it was an erroneous impression for critics to describe President Muhammadu Buhari of being slow because of his inability to appoint ministers after two months he assumed office.
Bamidele, said the country was deeply enmeshed in crises and that President Buhari needed to take his time to come up with people of integrity that could drive his vision to bring the expected change in the country.
Bamidele, said this in Iyin Ekiti during a thanksgiving and Special prayer session to mark his 52nd birthday anniversary.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, who spoke through the Director General of his campaign organization, Hon Ropo Ige said: “President Buhari must learn from the past mistakes. Looking at what happened in the last few years, he has to take his time to avert mistakes.
“He must take time and look at the characters of those he will work with. Some of these appointees will be recommended to him and he has to study them because he has not worked with them before. He has to scrutinize and ascertain that they are men of integrity who can really fight corruption”.
Bamidele exuded confidence that Nigeria will have every cause to be happy when Buhari announces his ministers and other political appointees. He commended President Buhari for interfering in the crisis rocking the House of Representatives, expressing confidence that emergence of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as the House leader had laid the matter to rest.
During the prayer session, an Islamic cleric, Addi Abdusalam and the General Overseer of Heritage Assembly Church, Ado Ekiti, Pastor Oluwadare, said that Buhari would restore the glory of the country with his strict anti-corruption war.
The men of God stated that the country would soon be restored to the old days of economic boom, with the vigour at which Buhari is waging war against corruption and leakages in governance.
Abdusalam, who led prayer for Buhari’s government said, ”Before the President came on board, many pastors and Sheikhs had predicted that those perpetrating corruption will soon be brought to justice.
“With what the present administration is doing about corruption, it is evident that Buhari’s Presidency is ordained by God. He is determined to restore the glory of this nation and I believe that the country’s economic boom will be restored if the fight is sustained”.
Oluwadare, who lamented the pervasive corruption in the system said, “With our prayers and support, Nigeria’s glory shall be restored. People like Bamidele, who have the interest of the people at heart, shall be in positions of authorities and our people shall be better for it”.
