FOR the first time since the
creation of Nasarawa state
in 1996, the government
and people of the state are
welcoming a sitting President
and Commander-in-Chief
of the Arm Forces of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria
in person of President
Muhammadu Buhari who is
on a one-day working visit

projects executed by the
state government under
the leadership of Governor
Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
Though the then President
of the country, Dr. Goodluck
Jonathan had visited the state
on two occasions, all the visits
were either to commission
federal government projects
or campaign for his reelection,
thus making the
President Buhari’s working
visit which is with the sole
aim of commissioning
projects executed by the
state government under
governor Umaru Tanko Al-
Makura unique and historic
according to analysts.
Projects expected to
be commissioned by the
President during the working
visit according to records
obtained by Nigerian Pilot

among other mouth-watering
Nigerian Pilot observed
that, perhaps, guided by this
covenant with the people
of the state, the governor
hit the ground running by
embarking on massive roads
constructions within the major
cities, rural-urban roads, as
well as feeder roads across
the State. His administration
has so far constructed over
three hundred (300) kilometres
of asphalt-drained roads
in Lafia and thirteen (13)
Local Government Areas
Headquarters which many
described as unprecedented
since the creation of the State.
The administration also
undertook a holistic overhaul
of the education sector from
the primary to the tertiary level
thus making education free
for primary and post-primary
students and resuscitated the

which the governor noted is
aimed at relieving parents of
such burden in the boarding
“In our effort to avail the
physically challenged amongst
us the opportunity to pursue
and realize their potentials,
we signed a Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU)
with Gallaudet University,
Washington, DC. I am happy
to state that this has led to
the establishment of Special
Schools for people living with
disabilities in Lafia, Akwanga
and Keffi. As I speak now,
Government has completed
the furnishing and equipping
of the International Model
Special School in Lafia for
commissioning by President
Muhammadu Buhari”

one of the largest rice producers
in the entire West African subregion.

“What the President has
been able to achieve in Nigeria
