Tragedy struck

on Thursday evening in

Adamawa when 17 Islamic

Madrasah pupils known

as ‘Almajirai’ were killed

when a commercial bus

belonging to Adamawa

State Transport Company

ran over them.

The victims, who were

between the ages of

Gassol local government

area of Taraba State when

the driver of the bus lost

control and ran into them

in the stream killing the

17 almajiris on the spot.

According to an

eyewitness, besides those

killed, several others

were injured and taken

to Mutum Biyu Referral

hospital where they were

placed on danger list due

to the severity of their

but said report made

available to him by the

police indicated that 12

almajiris died on the spot

while four others were on

admission at Mutum Biyu

Referral hospital.
