Osun state, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Osun state chapter has declared three days fasting and prayer period while calling on their members to donate generously in order to help the workers.
The State Chairman of the association, Rev’d Elisha Ogundiya made this known during a quarterly meeting of the association held at the Holy Ghost Power Assembly, Worldwide, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
They were of the opinion that the present government in the state is handicapped about the payment of workers salaries and seriously calls for concern which is why the Christians decided to extend help to the entire hungry workers.
The financial constraint facing the state presently now forced the leadership of the association to direct churches in the state to collect foodstuffs and other materials and distribute to the needy workers who have not received salary since the beginning of the year.
It will be recalled that, Osun state chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress has vowed not to call off their strike until the government pays their over six month salaries.
Christians have however observed that many workers are suffering due to continuous industrial action as occasioned by non-payment of salary by the state government.

“Majorly, we talked about our brothers and sisters, both Christians and non-Christians, who are passing through hardship in Osun state because of non-payment of their salary, and pensioners who are dying because they don’t have money to take care of themselves.
“I charge every church leader and the Local Government Chairmen that they should go back home and do something to assist all these people in their various churches by contributing food and other items that will make life better for them before government pay their salary.”
