At least, three people are feared dead and many others sustained severe injury as a result of an attack by dreaded cattle rustlers in Kamarawa village, Isa local government area of Sokoto State.
The Sokoto State House of Assembly member representing the area, Halilu Habibu Modaci, confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Sokoto on Friday. Even as he commended Governor Waziri Tambuwal for deploying over 50 Army troops to the area after the attack.
But the lawmaker said the cattle rustlers took advantage of the bridge that cut-off between Isa and Bafarawa to perpetrate their ugly act.
He therefore, noted that the areas worst hit by the attackers include: kamarawa, Gebe ‘A’ and Gebe ‘B’ wards.
He appealed to the federal government to intervene by deploying helicopter for the surveillance of the forest in other to rid the whole situation.
“It would be recalled that in the last 2 months, some notorious cattle rustlers have attacked and killed scores of our people as well as set ablaze our houses.
“We are going to sponsor a motion to that effect, so that emergency situation will also be taken. Sokoto has been rated as one of the most peaceful state in the whole federation but notwithstanding, we are going to work hand-in-hand with relevant government bodies to make sure the cattle rustlers activities in the area comes to an end,” Habibu said.
