The song goddess of the millennium, Celine Dion has made a rather emotional return to stage following the tragic death of her husband, Rene Angelil.
The singer returned to residency at The Colosseum in Las Vegas to perform; her first performance since the death of her husband.
The iconic singer however broke down as she paid an emotional tribute to Rene Angelil during the concert.
Celine, 47, returned to her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas just one month after her husband Rene Angelil’s death in January.
The performance, which was live-streamed for fans across the world to watch, showed photos of the family in the background.
Recall that she had earlier written an emotional open letter thanking fans for the ‘ongoing support’ following René Angélil’s death.
Paying tribute to Rene, Celine said: “Through my life, I only had eyes for my husband, who sat out here night after night. People thought that I was looking at him actually, but I didn’t need to because every time I closed my eyes I felt Rene on stage with me.”
An emotional Dion added: “Whether he was seated in his seat right there, in the balcony, backstage or at home with the kids, he’s always been on stage with me and nothing will ever change that.”
The audience showed their support for Celine by applauding as she continued singing “All By Myself.”
Celine’s husband of 22 years passed away aged 73 on January 14 following a battle with throat cancer.
Coincidentally, the singer tragically lost her brother, Daniel Dion, just two days after Rene after battling cancer for several years.
