Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has said that playing against one of their greatest rivals, Real Madrid in the finals of this year’s UEFA Champions League will be welcomed challenge for him and his teammates.
Barca are already through to the Berlin final and are waiting to see if the Los Blancos can turn around a 2-1 deficit against Juventus at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night and set up a mouth-watering El-Clasico June 6 final.
“It would be historic and very exciting to play a Champions League final against your biggest rivals,” the central defender told Barcelona’s official website.
“We’ve done everything well so far, but we still need to make sure of winning trophies because we know everything can change in a moment.
“We need to see if we’re going to be playing against Atletico Madrid this weekend because of the strike. It all looks good but we still have to finish things off.”
Barcelona have enjoyed a fine season and could be claiming a unique treble if they sustain the momentum in the coming weeks.
