Liverpool have lost once in five visits to Stamford Bridge
Super Eagles defensive midfielder, John Mikel Obi and his colleagues in Chelsea are set to turnaround the stuttering defence of their Barclays Premier League title this season and the visit of Liverpool today. The Blues are known to face an uphill task against the Original Red at the Stamford Bridge, are now being handled by Jurgan Klopp who sent Jose Mourinho and his then Real Madrid Club out of the 2012/2013 UEFA Champions League.
Mourinho has lost half of his 10 league matches this season and six in the past 12 going back to 2014/15. Before then it had taken 64 BPL matches for the Chelsea manager to have suffered as many defeats.
As Chelsea face Liverpool side, who have struggled against them in the past six league meetings with the Blues winning three and drawing the others.
Besides, Liverpool hSuper Eagles ave not enjoyed recent trips to London, going winless on their past five visits to the capital and that means that the reigning champions would be facing a Liverpool team who have been difficult to beat this season, not losing in their past five BPL fixtures and who have lost only once at Stamford Bridge in their past five league visits there.
As for the managers, Jurgen Klopp got the better of Mourinho twice during the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League.
Out of four meetings that season, Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund had with Mourinho’s Real Madrid, the Spanish side won one, with the Germans advancing past them in the semi-finals.
However, report by indicates that Chelsea are unbeaten in their last six Premier League meetings with Liverpool, winning three and drawing three.
Liverpool have failed to score in just one of their last 10 league clashes with the Blues.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have enjoyed just one victory in their five Premier League games against Liverpool.
The Blues have lost two of their last four home league games after going unbeaten in the previous.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games, their longest top-flight unbeaten spell since March.
Jose Mourinho has lost six of his last 12 Premier League matches; immediately before that run, he had lost six in 64 in the English top-flight.
Liverpool are without a win on their last five top-tier trips to London, losing two and drawing each of the last three.
However, Nigerian Saturday Pilot Sports is of the believe that today’s match between the two rival clubs would be though because they are being handled by a self proclaimed “Special One” on one side and on the other side the one who recently bynamed himself as the “Normal One”.
Today’s encounter certainly is a make or break game for Mourinho and if he fails to deliver then he may be shown an exit way by the club. So, he has to get his head straight this time and getting results rather than pointing hands at every little thing after the game.
In the same vein, Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp who replaced Rodgers with a lot of high expectations and the fans expect nothing less than what he did at Dortmund, the Liverpool manager needs to beat Mourinho to actually justify his job.
So, pressure will be looming on both managers but who win tomorrow will eventually becomes the better coach.
