Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria Gu Kiaojie has said that China is poised to achieve its “One belt one road initiative”.
The Chinese Ambassador, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), described the project as “a child of necessity and a panaceafor building a global community of people with common destiny”.
He said the project had no limit in its scope and was intended to touch various parts of the world.
“This project started in some parts of Asia and some neighbouring countries to the western part of China.
“It is a win – win situation, building cooperation with a view to building roads, railway lines and other infrastructure across the world”.
Kiaojie said Africans had no cause to worry adding that the initiative would be extended to countries in the continent.
He, however, urged African countries and various stakeholders to support the project in the interest of global economic development.
The “One belt one road initiative” is a development strategy and framework, proposed by China that focuses on connectivity and cooperation among countries, primarily in Eurasia.
It consists of two main components, the land-based “Silk Road Economic Belt” and oceangoing “Maritime Silk Road”.
It was unveiled by Chinese leader Xi Jinping in 2013.
