Amir of The Muslim Congress, TMC, Imam Luqmon AbdulRaheem on Sunday advised Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad for peace and progress of the nation.
AbdulRaheem made the call at the 1436 Annual Lecture of the Congress titled `Sustaining the Change Mantra’ at the National Stadium, Surulere.
He said it was not just enough to be a Muslim, “but you must have the fear of Allah and behaving in the most acceptable manner to your fellow human being.
“Let them revive the teachings of the prophet by preaching peace wherever they find themselves, ‘’ AbdulRaheem said.
He urged Muslims and non-Muslims to shun violence and any act capable of jeopardising the peace of the nation.
AbdulRaheem urged the faithful to learn how to forgive, stressing that “Allah himself forgives.”
He called on Muslims to be prayerful, saying that prayer is key to overcome any situation they found themselves.
Also speaking, the Waili of Lagos State Muslim Congress, Imam Adewunmi Adebayo, urged Nigerians to assist the Federal Government by collectively tacking insurgency.
He urged Muslims to shun acts capable of tarnishing the image of Islam.
The cleric urged Nigerians to exercise tolerance as directed by Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Adebayo said the Prophet taught about tolerance of one another and urged all to show true love and compassion to one another.
“If we have this as the principles from the depth of our heart, then there shall be no war, conflict and chaos among us,’’ he said.
He also advised parents to impart the true knowledge of Islam, particularly those of peace, love, care and respect to children.
The cleric reminded the faithful that Prophet Muhammad preached peace, love, care, tolerance, as well as respect to elders and leaders in the society.
He also advised adherents to learn, acquire, practice and teach the tenets of Islam for the nation to prosper.
“Islam frowns at hatred and violence. Islam symbolises peace, love and care for all,’’ he said. NAN
