Coach Samson Omiponle of Ekiti United FC on Sunday expressed satisfaction at the 2-1 defeat that his team handed out to visiting Crown of Osogbo.

The Nigeria National League match, which was played at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti on Saturday had a capacity crowd in attendance.

“At the beginning of the match, I prayed God to grant me victory so as to encourage my team to make progress in the league.

“My boys were able to control the game and this is why they were able to win convincingly.

“We will not relent in going for more victories, because there is still a lot of work to be done by me as the coach,’’ he said.

The Crown players in an apparent anger at their loss, drove off the field immediately, refusing to offer comments about the match to journalists, who sought post-match interviews.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Toba Oguntuase of United got on the score sheet first in the eight minute. Crown leveled out scores just before the break.

Adio Monsuru, a striker for United scored the winner after he received a through pass that he converted. (NAN)
