Coalition of Soludo support groups has enrolled no fewer than 60 children from Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled, Old and Tramps, RECDOT in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area, into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, scheme.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Awka, secretary of the group, Dr Nelson Omenugha, explained that former Central Bank governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who is currently one of the gubernatorial aspirants under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, came up with the idea to help the less privileged in the society have access to quality healthcare through the state’s health insurance scheme that would ensure quality and affordable health care to enrolees.
“We the coalition of Soludo Support Groups paid for the premium of the 60 children from RECDOT on behalf of Prof. Soludo; we will also be making an endowment to critical sectors of the economy that Prof Soludo is passionate about.
“In support of this noble idea, the Executive Secretary ASHIA, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi, paid the premium of 10 more children making it a total of 70 children from RECDOT enrolled into the scheme,” Omenugha stated.
Proprietress of RECDOT, Mrs Rosemary Odukwe, expressed gratitude to the state government and the group for their continued support.
Mrs Odukwe noted that the government had been helping in ensuring that the children were well taken care of.
She commended Prof. Soludo and his support groups for remembering the poor children on his birthday and wished him more fruitful years ahead.
“I also commend Dr Onyemaechi for the good work he is doing in ASHIA on behalf of the Government,” she said.
The coalition comprises nine groups – Youths Earnestly Seek Soludo, Movement for Good Governance, MGG, Anambra Demand Soludo, ADS, and Women Initiative for Greater Anambra, WIGA.
Others are Soludo Solution 2021, SS2021, Great Soludo Patriots, GSP, Soludo Solutions Movement, SSM, Soludo Soludofied, SS, and Soludo Support Group, SSG.
