A General Manager with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Sir Christian Eke has been conferred with the Ebekuodike chieftaincy title in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area by the traditional ruler of Ihitte Okwe, Eze Barnabas Obirieze.
Conferring the chieftaincy title on Sir Eke, in Imo State at the Eze’s palace, Eze Obirieze described him as a generous man with a large heart who has contributed enormously to the growth and development of the community.
Eze Obirieze noted that the recipient has empowered several youths and women in the community and urged other prominent sons and daughters of the land to emulate Chief Eke. He said the conferment was in recognition of Chief Eke’s good works and to encourage other illustrious sons of the land to take a cue from him.
The Eze enjoined youths to shun kidnapping, robbery, thuggery, violence and other social vices in order to become prominent citizens of the community like Chief Eke is; adding that, they are the leaders of tomorrow and shining lights of this generation.
In his response, Chief Eke said the chieftaincy title came as a big surprise noting that the honour done him and his family would spur him to continue to contribute his quota to the speedy development of the community.
Eke implored other prominent citizens of the community to see themselves as vessels through which the society must grow; adding that, as for him and his family, they would continue to give back to the community which nurtured them from the cradle to where they are today.
He expressed gratitude to Eze Obirieze for the title conferred on him and assured that he would continue to be a good ambassador of the community. He reassured that he would endeavor to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He commended President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for his sterling leadership virtues which steered Nigeria from disintegration and crisis after the just concluded general elections in the country.
