People of Overe-Eku community in Delta state have called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to reverse the allege acquisition of their land by an oil firm.
They alleged that their land was sold by unknown persons to a multinational oil firm.
Though Overe-Eku is presently under Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo state.
They said the land is being laid claim to by Ethiope East Local Government Area and has been in dispute before the Delta State Boundary Commission.
Thousands of residents from the community over the weekend, protested the alleged destruction of their farmland by the company which recently mobilised to its newly acquired operational base located in the community.
Addressing newsmen on behalf of the protesters, the oldest man of the community, Chief Uvo Eyimofe described the acquisition of the land as unwarranted with an appeal to the Delta State government to come to its aid.
