The validity of the recommendations of the sixth National Conference notwithstanding, President MuhammaduBuhari will not implement them because the composition of the delegates to the conference was skewed against the North, according to the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF.
The socio-cultural organization in a statement accused the immediate past Federal Government headed by President Goodluck Jonathan of undermining the interest of the most populous region in the country and added Buhari would be constrained to dump the confab recommendations because it would have adverse impact on the North.
The ACF claims that Buhari would not dare to adopt and implement the recommendations notwithstanding its worth stressing that doing so would only advanced the interest of the South and further under-develop the North which is already economically disadvantaged.
The ACF made the claim in swift reaction to the comments made by Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, who had urged President Buhari to implement the well-intended recommendations of the National Conference, which he thinks would easily transform the nation.
Nigerian Pilot on Saturday recalls that Jonathan in 2014 Jonathan had brought together no fewer than 500 eminent persons across the federation to fashion a new constitution for the country. However, the ACF had protested against what they called the lopsided nature of the composition.
In a statement in Kaduna on Thursday, the ACF, through its National Publicity Secretary, AlhajiMuhamma Ibrahim, said implementation of the recommendations would be against the wishes of the North.
The ACF recalled that it protested the ‘lopsided’ an arrangement that undermined the land mass and population of the North stressing that rather than correct the wrong President Jonathan sustained the gross injustice to the region by ignoring their legitimate complaint.
