International Trade Union Confederation-Africa, ITUC, has expressed displeasure with the level of corruption in the African continent, which has also compromised the continent’s tax system, thus resulting in laundering of over USD50 billion from Africa annually using the platform of Illicit Financial Flow, IFF.
To this end, the labour regional body at the end of its two days meeting in Abuja yesterday, created a social media campaign platform, #stopthebleeding, to raise awareness of both politicians and over 179 million workers from across 49 countries in Africa against the illicit financial flow from Africa.
Briefing journalists on the resolutions of the meeting, the secretary general of the organisation, Mr. Kwasi Adu-Amankwah reiterated the desire of the labour body to commit more energy and ideas, especially at the regional level to support African Union in the fight against the illicit financial flow from Africa.
