Senator representing Ebonyi central senatorial zone of Ebonyi State, Chief Obinna Ogba, has said that in the past 16 years since Nigeria returned to civilian democracy, corruption in both high and low places, has been the cause of under development.
Senator Ogba, who stated this in Enugu, while delivering a lecture tagged, “the role of the media in anti-corruption war,” organised by the Enugu Correspondents’ Chapel 2015 Press Week/Award, Night, posited that corruption was not the preserve of those in political positions alone but was all encompassing.
Ogba lamented that Nigeria was rated the 3rd most corrupt country in Africa after Guinea, which is rated the most corrupt and suggested that corruption must be rooted out of the country for it to develop.
The law maker pointed out that in Nigeria, not only politicians are corrupt as even drivers, cleaners, gatemen are equally corrupt and suggested that all and sundry should adopt Buhari’s anti-corruption policy.
However, he said Buhari’s anti-corruption war must not be selective if the nation must overcome corruption that has bedevilled the nation.
“Corruption must be removed in Nigeria for us to develop. In fighting, however, we should not be selective in the issue of corruption,” Ogba admonishes.
