Chairman, Pankshin Management Committee of Plateau State, Stephen Jings has tasked Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, on quick tackling of insecurity and cow rustling within the Plateau Central zone.‬
The chairman gave the charge yesterday while declaring open the PCRC meeting of the zone held at the Nigerian Legion office, Pankshin.
He said, “Although Pankshin LGA is very peaceful, youths restiveness and incessant cases of cow rustling are major threats to the security, peace and development in the central zone.
“Diplomacy is one strong way of arresting and curbing societal vices and insecurity. Therefore, I expect PCRC to implore that to ensure that the security of people is assured,” he appealed.
Jings enjoined PCRC to liaise with hunters and vigilante within the zone and synergise in order to bring about he needed peace and security that could stimulate growth and development.
He said, “Without security and peace, there can never be any meaningful development any given society.”
The chairman commended the committee for its resilience and commitment to community policing by building a fence and purchasing an electricity generating plant for the Pankshin police division.
Earlier, the PCRC zonal chairman, Mr Enoch Adelowo said the committee was committed to community policing hence their constant meeting to strategise on how best to keep the society free of criminals and criminality.
Adelowo said, “We are partners in progress and will do all we can to support you to succeed as chairman of this peaceful local government.”
He said PCRC would do all it could to maintain peace within the central zone so as to bring about the needed development and growth.
