The Chairman, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin-Giri, said the council had procured and distributed 100 refuse bins to the 10 Wards in the area.
Jibrin-Giri stated this during the inauguration of the Household and Community Sanitation Programme in Gwagwalada on Saturday.
He advised the district heads of the various wards to ensure that the equipment were put to proper use and refuse evacuation in their communities monitored.
The chairman, who said that despite the lean financial condition of the council, it has been able to demonstrate its passion and commitment toward a clean and healthy environment
He, however, appealed to the FCT Minister for assistance in providing at least two compacting trucks to complement the efforts of the council.
He also called for assistance from the minister to help complete the ongoing Gwagwalada market road, adding that the FCDA Dobi-Izom road project was yet to be completed.
“We seek your honourable intervention in these areas for the benefit of our people’’, he said. (NAN)
