Councillor representing Nigon/Bohar electoral ward in Akwanga Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, Titus Gimba, has been sworn-in by the Speaker of the council, Yakubu Shuaibu.
Gimba, who was duly elected councillor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was short changed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Thomas Adua, who was wrongly sworn-in in April 2014.
His swearing-in followed the intervention of the House of Assembly which directed the speaker of Akwanga legislative council to swear-in Gimba as the duly elected councillor during the March 2014 local government election.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, recently, the Chairman of the council, Abashiya Koto, called on Gimba to live above board in the discharge of his duties and urged staff of the local government to desist from envy, gossip and rumour peddling in the interest of peace and development of the council.
Koto noted that rumour peddling would affect their productivity, as well as fuel crisis in the society.
“I urge you to be prudent, transparent and be accountable in the discharge of your duties in order to justify the mandate given to you by our people.”
The chairman challenged him to remain focus and forget the issues that led to the delay in his swearing-in, adding that God’s time is the best.
Responding, Gimba promised to be transparent and just while discharging his official assignment in order to achieve speedy development in the area and the state at large.
