An Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, on Monday granted a 35-year-old mechanic, Segun Rojugbokan a N100,000 bail over alleged stealing of a car brain-box worth N65,000.

The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted bail to the accused who resides at No.16, Akinmuda Str., Okitipupa.

Ayeomoni ordered the police to conduct proper investigation into the matter.

Earlier, Rojugbokan had pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of stealing levelled against him.

“I never checked the car’s brain box when l helped the owner to fix a minor fault,’’ he said.

The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi had earlier told the court that the accused had on Jan. 18, 2016 at about 4:00 pm, along Erinje road, stole the brain-box of an Infinity car with registration number, LND 355 AH, belonging to one Tawo Ali.

Orogbemi said the offence was contrary to, and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

The magistrate adjourned the case till April 18 for further hearing. (NAN)
