A Magistrate Court sitting in Oke Eda. Akure, Ondo State has ordered for the remand of a police inspector, Anthony Nwadike in prison custody for allegedly killing an okada rider in Omifon in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
It was gathered that the alleged killer cop shot the deceased, Sunday Joseph and two other persons during an argument.
The trio were said to be on motorcycle and met the accused person and some other policemen at a police checkpoint.
A source narrated that the accused policeman threw a big stick at the deceased on the motorcycle to stop him, making the deceased and his passengers to fall down.
After falling down, the source stated that an argument ensued between the deceased and the policemen. This led to the shooting of the three people by the cop .
The deceased was said to have died on the spot while the two other victims were still in critical condition at the hospital.
The charge sheet read, ” That you Nwadike Anthony 54 yrs, on 4th Sept, 2016 about 6.pm at Omifon, Ondo-Ore road in Ondo Magisterial District did killed one Sunday Joseph, age 48, by shooting him with riffle on the stomach resulted to his death contrary and purnishable to section 319, Cap 37, Vol 1 of Ondo Laws, 2006.”
