Warri High Court, Delta State has restrained Ogbe-Ijoh Warri from crowning Mr. Couple Oromoni as (Amakosu), the Pere of Ogbe-Ijoh Kingdom.
This was stated in a ruling delivered on Wednesday by the Court, which was made available to journalists.
The claimants had approached the Warri High Court seeking an order for interim injunction on restraining the defendants and their purported committee set up by Chief Dr. SY Mamamu, erstwhile regent of Ogbe-Ijoh Kingdom (1st defendant) and their agents from presenting, parading or crowning Mr Couple Oromoni (4th defendant) or any other person as the Amakosu, the Pere of Ogbe-Ijoh Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
In his ruling, vacation Judge, Delta South Senatorial District, Warri last Wednesday, Justice AA Onojovwo, stated that having heard the claimants’ application, ordered as follows, “I have read the motion and the supporting affidavit and listen to the counsel.
“I am of the view that this is a proper situation to order maintenance of the status quo pending the determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.”
The Judge further stated, “Accordingly, the application is hereby granted as prayed. The motion on notice for interlocutory injunction remains fixed for November 19, 2015 for hearing.”
